INCREASED BANDWIDTH
AGP
has a bus, which is 32 bits wide, with a clock rate of 66 MHz.
Therefore, it can transfer up to 251.7 MB in one second. In addition
to this, the transfer rate can increase with different modes such as
2x and 4x modes.
In
the 2X mode, AGP uses a special signaling that allows it to send twice
as much data at the same clock speed. This is done, by sending
information on both the rising and falling edge of the clock. So,
theoretically, AGP can have a theoretical bandwidth of 503.4 MB/s.
In
the 4x mode, it is possible to perform four transfers in one clock
cycle, allowing a transfer rate of 1 GB/s.
