Raster data occur in various dimensions, be they observed phenomena or generated data sets, e.g., satellite imagery and mapping, geo physics and exploration, document management, medical imagery, engineering data, and statistics data. They all have in common extreme volumes, often Giga- to Petabyte per single object.

There is some work and publications of mine in raster services for geo, life science, and simulation data. All this bases on the rasdaman (raster data manager) multi­dimensional raster server.

As Professor of CS, I am teaching and researching at Jacobs University Bremen (IUB) in the Knowledge and Information Management Area and the Smart Systems graduate program. A goal of prime importance is to make students fit for success in industry and science.
